Are you a candidate who is confused about using a Recruitment Agency? What does a Recruitment Agency like Hooray do?
You have decided that you need to look for a new job role but see that the role is with a recruitment agency and you are not sure how to approach it and what an agency can do for you, or perhaps have had a less than good experience with an agency in the past. Here at Hooray we pride ourselves with being a bit different and doing what we can to support the candidate – this article should clarify our role in the recruitment process and how you can make it work for you.
Hooray works on behalf of a client who has asked us to search for candidates as working with an agency who engage with candidates regularly means that we are more likely to find a candidate quickly and we provide a service which is a big time saver for the client as perhaps they may not have time to get involved in the time-consuming and difficult part of recruitment.
What to expect when you apply for a role advertised…
When you apply for a role through us, we will respond to every application, even if it is a polite email thanking you for applying. Here at Hooray we do review each application and this is done by the recruitment consultant who is dealing with the client and knows them best. If you receive this email, please do not be disheartened as we can receive a high number of applications and we match to the client specifications, and we choose candidates to move forward purely on merit and the client brief. We encourage you to continue to apply for roles if you feel they match your skills and experience and of course you will always know where you stand with us.
We also have access to some major job sites – when you apply for a role on certain job sites they sometimes make your CV visible to recruiters so you may get a call from us if we find your CV online and we feel you match a role that we are recruiting for.
If we feel you are a good match for the job specification and person specification along with cultural fit from the client, we will give you a call in order to move you forward in the shortlisting process. We will let you know more about the role and the company and discuss whether the role suits your situation and whether you would be a good fit for the role and company. This is your chance to have an open and honest conversation with us as this is usually the best way to move forward and ensure that you will be happy with the position without letting you or the client down.
The next steps…
Following our conversation and that we would both like to move you onto the next step we will try to book in an appointment for you to meet us so we can go through everything in more detail. In this meeting with us, we will go through the opportunity in more detail and make sure it is the right fit for you. If we both feel it is a close match, we can then send your CV and application to our client! Quite often, we will have a meeting or telephone call with our client in addition to sending over your CV. This way, we can answer any questions and really bring your experience and skill set on paper to life.
After we send your CV to the client and having met you, we will then get feedback from our client. We will then let you know the feedback and arrange an interview if they would like to see you. If it is not good news, we will let you know and encourage you to visit our website or follow us on social media for job updates or to be considered for other roles.
If you are lucky and are selected for interview, we will send you confirmation which will outline the company’s address, who you will meet, approximate duration of the interview etc etc along with some interview tips. We will always catch up with you prior to your interview to make sure you are happy and comfortable with everything. We can have an in-depth phone call or sometimes, we arrange another face to face meeting with you as often, people find it easier to talk through things in person. We want to make sure we give you the best opportunity to present yourself in the best possible way.
It doesn’t end at the interview…
Once your interview has been completed and we have received your feedback, we will ask the client to let us know their thoughts. At each stage of the application we will let you know if you have been successful. If you are chosen as the top candidate, congratulations! We will then ensure that both you and your new employer are happy with the offer and confirm your start date and all the details. Please don’t be a stranger, following this point as it is part of our service to both you and your new employer to ensure you are both satisfied with your new position a little while after your start date. We most definitely love keeping in touch with candidates we have successfully placed into new roles and enjoy hearing about their journey.
This is the service we provide to you, our candidate and we promise to get back to you not only from your first application but at every stage of the process. We are your advocate and will do our best to support you in getting your next role. This is our candidate promise.
We wish you all the best on your job hunt!
