Pride Month: Create an Inclusive Workplace Culture that lasts.
Pride in the workplace: Check out Hoory’s advice on how to support LGBTQ+ employees and create an inclusive workplace culture that lasts all year round.
Hey there, Pride Month enthusiasts!
It’s that time of year again when rainbow flags adorn logos and social media feeds light up with messages of support.
At Hooray Recruitment, we’re all for celebrating Pride, but we’re also taking a moment to ask:
“What more can we do?”
If you’re feeling like you’re almost at the end of Pride Month and all you’ve done is slap a rainbow on your logo, you’re not alone.
That’s why we’re here to make a plan of action and advise on how to create a lasting impact beyond the surface.
LGBTQ+ inclusion isn’t a one-month affair—it’s a year-round commitment.
We love the vibrancy of Pride Month and seeing those rainbows everywhere, but let’s be real for a sec.
It’s about actions, not just words.
There is still loads more work to be done to create a more inclusive workplace and we’re referring to change that goes beyond the colours of logos and profile pictures. This pride month we are rooting for an inclusive workplace culture that lasts all year round.
We believe in the importance of fostering a workplace where every individual, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation, feels genuinely supported and celebrated.
Real change starts at the top.
Our founders, Richard and Ian, are proud members of the LGBTQ+ community. They understand first-hand the importance of creating an environment where everyone can thrive without fear of discrimination or judgment —not just during Pride Month, but Every. Single. Day.
At Hooray Recruitment, we’re committed to action. As a certified B Corp, we don’t just talk the talk; we walk the walk.
We believe in taking concrete steps to ensure the workplace is not only diverse but also genuinely inclusive. We strive to create a better working world where everyone feels valued and respected for who they are. That’s why we’ve put together a few tips to help you stay inclusive in the workplace.
How to create an inclusive workplace culture that goes beyond Pride Month
Check out these practical steps you can take to move beyond rainbow logos and make a real difference!
Professional Development Programs: Create tailored development opportunities forLGBTQ+ employees to help them grow their careers and skills.
Assign Allies: Choose allies within your organisation to advocate for LGBTQ+ colleagues and foster an inclusive culture.
Mentorship and Sponsorship Programs: Create mentorship programs to pair LGBTQ+ employees with mentors who can guide them and open doors.
Check out Lloyds LGBTQ+ Sponsorship and mentoring programme here for some inspiration.
Break Down Barriers: Identify and tackle obstacles LGBTQ+ employees face in their careers, like biased promotion processes or workplace discrimination. Stand up and challenge exclusionary behaviour. Correct people who are using incorrect language and show solidarity to try and lead by example. Help to embed positive change even if we’re not directly affected.
As we celebrate Pride Month, let’s not forget that our efforts don’t end in June.
Let’s keep advocating for change, cheering for equality, and creating workplaces where diversity isn’t just accepted but celebrated!
